Ethan Nash, Director of the University Glee Club of New Haven

Ethan Nash graduated from Yale University in 1997 with a Bachelors degree in music, and taught for five years as the Music Director at School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Choral Conducting from the Hartt School in 2007. During his time at Hartt, he conducted the Camerata, the Chamber Choir and the Hartt Choir. Works conducted include Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Holst's Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda and Bach's Cantata 137. Ethan is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Glastonbury High School where he conducts the Concert Choir, the Madrigals and the Chorus. In addition, he is a part time cantor at Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield and a religious school songleader and Junior Choir/Theater director at Temple Sinai of Newington. He has served on the faculty of the Hartt School, the Hartford Conservatory, Middlesex Community College and the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival. Ethan has also worked previously with the United Girls Choir of North Haven and the Choral Club of Hartford. Ethan has sung with the Yale Glee Club, Manhattan's New Amsterdam Singers and the Zamir Chorale of Manhattan. He is active as a composer of choral and solo vocal music and his works have been performed by SHE, a Manhattan based vocal ensemble, as well as at schools and music camps. Having written his dissertation on aspects of Jewish Choral Music, Ethan is currently in the process of preparing Volume 4: Hebrew Texts for publication as part of the earthsongs series, Translations and Annotations of Choral Repertoire. Active in musical theater as well, Ethan has served as musical director for Norwich's Spirit of Broadway Theater, Wesleyan University's Center for Creative Youth, Connecticut Heritage Productions and at several public schools. He has directed numerous musicals such as Into the Woods, Joseph, Godspell, Anything Goes, and Fiddler on the Roof. Ethan lives in Wethersfield with his wife, Danica, their son, Ari and their two pugs, Tika and Pedro.
