Jeffrey Boratko’s love of music was noticed at an early age. Growing up in a musical family, he was given many opportunities to explore this interest. His father introduced him to the piano, and gradually, he learned to play more instruments as the years progressed. He finally settled on the bassoon.
His musical interest extended itself to not only playing, but composing as well. Growing up surrounded by a wide variety of music, there is nothing conventional about the music Boratko writes: A unique blend of jazz, classical, new age, and musics from around the world. In his compositions, Jeffrey has taken the bassoon out of its comfort zone, creating an innovative and modern sound.
Jeffrey studies music performance and music composition at Central Connecticut State University under Dr. Brian Kershner and Dr. Charles Menoche.
